Cannabis and hemp are the same plant that is scientifically known as Cannabis Sativa.
Hemp is defined as a cannabis plant that contains low levels or less than 0.3 percent of the psychoactive compound called THC, a cannabinoid produced in the flowers of the cannabis plant. So technically speaking, a hemp plant is cannabis with little to no psychoactive effect when ingested or smoked.
